Report: Dark Web Marketplace Dealings Revealed

A new report has found that hidden dark web websites across numerous countries are being utilized to sell goods illegally online.

The report: Mining the Dark Web: Drugs and Fake IDs by Dr. Andres Baravalle, Dr. Sin Lee Wee, and Mr. Mauro Sanchez Lopez, found that once users had access to the websites it was a simple process of obtaining a username and buying products online, according to a report from the International Business Times.

In the report covered by IBT, Dr. Baravalle said that a teenager who was tech savvy would be able to gain access the sites where they would be communicating with criminals with ease.

Indian Hackers Target Pakistan Govt. Websites for ‘Pay Back’

A group of Indian hackers who go with the moniker – ‘Indian Black Hats’ have targeted and defaced several Pakistan-based websites including a government domain.

A group of internet hackers from India targeted and shut down at least 10 Pakistan-based websites citing ‘pay back’ on the seventh anniversary of 26/11 when a deadly terrorist attack struck the Indian city of Mumbai.

The Hindu, a prominent publishing house from the country reports the attack to have begun early Thursday morning, in a joint effort by a ‘group of like-minded hackers from across the country.’

Private Investigators Hire Hackers to Gain an Edge in Civil Court

Five people, including a former San Francisco police officer were indicted by a federal grand jury in San Jose on charges that they had hacked into computers to gain an advantage in civil lawsuits. The case focuses around private investigators Nathan Moser and Peter Siragusa. The two men hired Trent Williams, a 24-year-old, and Sumit Gupta, 26, to hack into victims’ computers to access various accounted according to the indictment handed down last month and opened this week.

Hacker Claims FBI Threatened Prison If He Didn’t Work For Them

A 28-year-old hacker named Fidel Salinas is currently serving a six-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor count of computer fraud and abuse. What’s interesting is that only a few months before, he was faced with 44 felony charges of hacking and cyber stalking. All of his felony charges were later dismissed, and now that his case is dealt with, he feels he can tell his side of the story.
