#OpTrump: Anonymous Declares “Total War” Against Donald Trump

Hacktivist collective Anonymous has declared “total war” on Republican Presidential hopeful and GOP frontrunner Donald Trump in a video released this month.

Decentralized hacktivist collective Anonymous has posted a video encouraging hackers and “every viewer with a computer” to engage in #OpTrump, a campaign targeting Presidential hopeful Donald Trump. A spokesman for Anonymous spoke with anonymity behind the symbolic Guy Fawkes mask. He stated:

We the loyalists and veterans of Anonymous have decided to revive this operation on a far larger scale.

Dear Donald Trump, we have been watching you for a long time and what we see is deeply disturbing.

The video continues on, showing a montage of Trump’s most controversial statements yet during his campaign trail. It includes one of Trump’s earliest comments that sparked worldwide disbelief, when he called Mexicans “rapists” and that America’s neighbors to the south “are not our friends”. Another clip showed a laundry list of insults that he hurled against women read to him. Another shows him publicly mocking a disabled reporter in front of a watching audience.

Your inconsistent and hateful campaign has not only shocked the United States of America, you have shocked the entire planet with your appalling actions and ideas.

The anonymous masked figure continues to state:

You say what your current audience wants to hear but in reality, you don’t stand for anything but for your personal greed and power.

The rallying cry follows immediately after, with the speaker stating:

This is a call to arms…To our fellow activists around the world. This is a call to protect our future, our freedom and our very way of life.

“This is a call to you,” the speaker adds, “We need you to shut down his websites, research and expose what he does not want the public to know.”

A frequent criticism levelled against Trump is that of the frontrunner began running as a presidential nominee simply to enhance the “Trump” brand.

Anonymous made a nod toward this in the video, adding:

We need you to dismantle his campaign and sabotage his brand.

Donald Trump’s campaign website was previously targeted in a DDoS-led takedown toward the end of December when a hacking outfit calling themselves “New World Hackers” took down the billionaire’s campaign website.

The latest video by Anonymous is a call to engage in the #OpTrump campaign again. The video ends with the Anonymous spokesman stating:

This is not a warning. This is a declaration of total war. Operation Trump engaged. We are Anonymous.
