TalkTalk Hack Insider Claims Trove Of Customer Details Are For Sale; More Attacks To Come

The British newspaper Daily Mail reports that it spoke to an individual working with the group that hacked the TalkTalk telecom who intends to sell confidential customer data through an online criminal marketplace. The covert source claims the amount of stolen information is much greater than the company has acknowledged.

The newspaper said it was able to verify some of the stolen account information is real.

British Police Arrest 15-Year-Old In Telecom Hack; Ransom Was Demanded In Bitcoin

British police arrested a 15-year-old boy in relation to a massive hack of British telecom TalkTalk Group, according to Silicon Angle. The boy allegedly broke the Computer Misuse Act, a law that covers unauthorized access to computer material with intent to commit a crime. The method used to breach the data was not confirmed, but sources believe the hacker used SQL injection, which causes a database to dump information, combined with a denial of service attack that prevented users from using the website.

UK ISP TalkTalk Breach Could Compromise 4 Million Users

British broadband provider TalkTalk has been at the receiving end of a “significant and sustained cyber-attack,” according to the company’s website, in a breach that could leave up to 4 million customers’ details compromised.

TalkTalk, one of the biggest telecommunications companies in Britain has revealed that it was the target of a cyber-attack in which personal and financial details of customers may have been accessed.

In a statement addressing the incident, managing director of TalkTalk, Tristia Harrison said:
