Indian Hackers Target Pakistan Govt. Websites for ‘Pay Back’

A group of Indian hackers who go with the moniker – ‘Indian Black Hats’ have targeted and defaced several Pakistan-based websites including a government domain.

A group of internet hackers from India targeted and shut down at least 10 Pakistan-based websites citing ‘pay back’ on the seventh anniversary of 26/11 when a deadly terrorist attack struck the Indian city of Mumbai.

The Hindu, a prominent publishing house from the country reports the attack to have begun early Thursday morning, in a joint effort by a ‘group of like-minded hackers from across the country.’

Snowden: Cisco Routers a Pakistani National Security Risk

British GHCQ used hacked Cisco routers to spy on Pakistan, according to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. The purpose of the router exploits was to help identify Middle Eastern terrorists operating in Pakistan.

The UK government did not provide comment on Snowden’s claims. 

Cisco routers have been known to ship with bugs in the past, and this is not the first time it has been said that routers shipped to foreign countries were infected with malware. Previously, in 2013, Snowden claimed that the same tactic was used by the US government via the NSA to spy on Chinese networks.
