Hackers Gain Customer Information At 54 Starwood Hotels

Hackers gained access to debit and credit card information from customers of 54 Starwood hotels, including some Sheraton, Westin and W locations, CBS News reported.

The hotel organization said it found malware in payment systems in hotel retail areas such as gift shops and restaurants. The malware infected payment systems since as early as November 2014 but has since been removed.

The company said on its website that it engaged third-party forensic experts to investigate and determined the malware was designed to collect certain payment card information, including cardholder names, payment card numbers, security codes and expiration dates. [...]

Trump Hotels Confirm Credit Card Breach

Donald Trump’s Trump Hotel Collection (a hotel chain) has confirmed that malware infected its point-of-sale (POS) systems for more than a year. The hotel administration has sent out letters to all ‘potentially affected’ customers to notify them of the IT security breach at a Las Vegas hotel and several other hotel properties in the U.S. and Canada.

Trump Hotels join the likes of the Hilton hotel chain in being victims of credit card breaches.

Hilton Hotels Targeted by Hackers in a Credit Card Breach

Hilton Worldwide is looking into claims of a substantial credit card breach after independent security researcher and journalist Brian Krebs broke the news this weekend.

According to security journalist Brian Krebs, multiple properties and franchises of the Hilton Hotel have been compromised by hackers in a sweeping credit card breach.

Krebs’ investigation is based on ‘multiple sources’ in the banking industry who noticed a steady pattern of fraudulent credit card transactions across Hilton properties.
