Hackers Only Need Seconds to Figure Out Card Details

Experts from Newcastle University in England has found that hackers only need six seconds to figure out the card number, expiry date, and security code for a Visa debit or credit card by simple guesswork, according to a report from The Telegraph.

According to figures from the Office of National Statistics, in the U.K. the number of bank account fraud cases reported up to June 2016, from the beginning of the year, amounted to over 2.3 million.

The researchers found that all that a hacker needs is a computer and an Internet connection. It is believed that hackers simply utilize what is known as a Distributed Guessing Attack enabling them to get around security features [...]

Presidential Voting Machines Are Vulnerable to Hacking, Says Cybersecurity Company

The day of reckoning will soon be upon millions of American as they head to the polls to elect its 45th President between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, but according to one cybersecurity company, the voting machines used are vulnerable to hacking, reports CNBC.

According to Real Clear Politics, Clinton currently has 203 of the overall electoral college vote with Trump claiming 164. However, even though Clinton has remained in the lead for most of the election, there are concerns that vulnerability of the voting machines could leave them open to hackers.

Speaking to CNBC, Cris Thomas, a strategist for Tenable Network Security, said:

Cybersecurity Spending Doubles Threat Growth Sees UK Businesses Spend More On Security

As the threat of cybersecurity grows in the U.K. companies are reported to be spending twice as much to prevent their businesses from being targeted, reports City A.M.

In 2016 budgets spent on cybersecurity more than doubled compared to that spent in 2015. It’s reported that, on average, the budget rose to £6.2 million per business as the threat of cyberattacks continued to increase.
