SpaceX CEO Elon Musk wants to colonize Mars and then move on to the planets. Yesterday (September 27), at the International Astronautical Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico, hosted by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), Musk announced his long-awaited space colonization plan in a special keynote – full of technical specifications of system components including the recently rested “Raptor” engine, and interrupted by frequent applause from the audience – titled “Making Humans a Multiplanetary Species.”
Visionary and sometimes controversial entrepreneur Elon Musk hinted at advances in next-generation brain hacking. Recent research results promise future “neural lace” technology that could enhance our brains and connect them to the cloud.
Around 1,000 people involved in the robotics industry have signed a letter urging a ban on artificial intelligence arms. An arms race could unfold where the winner is the one who makes the best robot killer. According to some of the brightest minds in the industry, including Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak, and Stephen Hawking, feel that AI technology applied to warfare can be a “threat” to humanity.
Many others also signed a letter that was presented at a conference in Argentina. The goal is to get governments to understand the seriousness of allowing an artificial intelligence arms race to develop.
