Security Flaw in Credit Card Chip System Revealed

Payment technology company firm NCR has discovered a new security flaw in the upgrade in the credit card chip system in the United States.

At the recent Black Hat computer security conference in Las Vegas, computer security researchers unveiled how they had found a way to bypass the chip’s security features, according to CNN.

A card will still have the magnetic strip attached to it so that they can still be used to purchase goods and services from a merchant that has yet to upgrade to EMV-enabled terminals.

David Jones Hacked, Customers’ Information has been Leaked

David Jones, a big Australian fashion retailer, has been hacked. Some private details belonging to its customers have been compromised.

The information includes names of the customers, their email addresses, order details, mailing addresses, and other relevant details except the sensitive credit card details of the customers.

The details of David Jones online customers have been unofficially accessed. The vulnerability was discovered on the website of David Jones’ department store.

Costco’s Photo Center Hacked, Customers’ Personal Information Breached

In a series of FAQs on its website and emails sent to its customers, retailer Costco has confirmed that its Photo Center website was hacked by malicious attackers looking for personal and financial information of its customers.

Retailing behemoth Costco has informed its customers of a data breach that exposed their credit card information and personal details in a hack targeting its Photo Center website that may have lasted an entire year between June 2014 and July 2015.

Trump Hotels Confirm Credit Card Breach

Donald Trump’s Trump Hotel Collection (a hotel chain) has confirmed that malware infected its point-of-sale (POS) systems for more than a year. The hotel administration has sent out letters to all ‘potentially affected’ customers to notify them of the IT security breach at a Las Vegas hotel and several other hotel properties in the U.S. and Canada.

Trump Hotels join the likes of the Hilton hotel chain in being victims of credit card breaches.
