Busted: Israeli Teens Behind DDoS-For-Hire Service That Made $600,000

Israeli police arrested two men alleged to be the co-owners of an attack-for-hire service, according to KrebsOnSecurity. The pair was arrested around the same time that KrebsOnSecurity published an earlier story naming them as the masterminds behind a service called vDOS that can be hired to knock Web sites offline with powerful blasts of junk data.

Suffering Repeated Account Hacks, Krebs Urges PayPal To Modernize Its Customer Authentication

Brian Krebs, the author of the Krebs On Security website, had his PayPal account hacked on Christmas Eve by a hacker who tried sending his funds to an ISIS-connected hacker gang. In an article on his website, Krebs describes his efforts to fix the problem with PayPal, but he views it as representative of the current state of security for many companies. He says many organizations, including financial institutions, are “woefully behind the times” in fighting identity theft.

Hilton Hotels Targeted by Hackers in a Credit Card Breach

Hilton Worldwide is looking into claims of a substantial credit card breach after independent security researcher and journalist Brian Krebs broke the news this weekend.

According to security journalist Brian Krebs, multiple properties and franchises of the Hilton Hotel have been compromised by hackers in a sweeping credit card breach.

Krebs’ investigation is based on ‘multiple sources’ in the banking industry who noticed a steady pattern of fraudulent credit card transactions across Hilton properties.
